About Us

The Cairns and District Junior Eisteddfod is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting the Junior Performing Arts in Far North Queensland. From our humble beginnings over 68 years ago to the present, we are a committed and dedicated group of people who work hard, and freely give up their time to put together an Eisteddfod of quality that is a rewarding and enjoyable experience for all concerned.

The Eisteddfod is an essential mechanism for local Schools and the likes of Dance schools & Music teachers to profile their students and enable them valuable experience in public performance.

Our Mission

To present the annual JCU Cairns Eisteddfod, one of the largest and most successful competitive performing arts festivals of its type in North Queensland.

To provide opportunities primarily for the younger people in our community, to perform, in public, at a world class venue.

To receive professional critique to improve their performance, artistic and literary skills and inspire them to embrace a lifelong association in the performing arts.

To promote the eisteddfod movement locally, nationally and internationally.

Our Aim is to bring out the potential of every student through fair and supportive competition.
